Chasetown FC are looking to win the hearts of the nation once again when they play Rainsworth Miners Welfare in a Third Round Qualifiying FA Cup match. After reaching the First Round of the FA Cup in 2005 (losing to the might of Oldham Athletic) manager Charlie Blackmore is looking for a repeat performance. "To pull off a repeat of that cup run would be an amazing achievement" said Blackmore."The whole adventure was a fairy-tale experience for us and put our club on the map. Before our FA Cup run we averaged crowds of 80-90 - now we're up to 350, it's fantastic."
The club took part in one of 'Sporting Leagues' first greyhound events at Perry Barr back in July to eventually raise up to £300, whilst also having an incredible social night out.
Commercial Manager Fred Humphreys was more than happy with the opportunity to raise money for the club saying "This scheme is a very easy way for grass roots clubs to raise funds and to also enjoy a night at the dogs. We raised nearly £300 but to be fair some of the lads were abit nonchalant with their money so individually there was a few losses!"
Come matchday against Rainsworth, there will be no room for such nonchalance as Chasetown will be looking for another taste of magic to get the chance to progess to the Fourth Qualifying Round.
